What is RCN?
RCN is a regional high-capacity redundant DWDM terrestrial cable network project that runs from the UAE to Europe, passing through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, and Turkey, with an optional submarine segment from Tartous in Syrian to Europe.

- Under the 2010 memorandum set to establish a high-capacity terrestrial fiber network from UAE to Europe.
- Utilization of existing infrastructure and DWDM technology.
- Operators involved in the RCN include Etisalat (UAE), Mobily (Saudi Arabia), Mada and Zain and Jordan Telecom (Jordan), Syrian Telecom (Syria), and SOL (Turkey).
- A service established with a cost of around USD 500 million to cover all related services, and a capacity of 12.8 terabit per second.
