About Mobily

Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) was established in 2004 by a consortium led by Etisalat, the UAE based telecom conglomerate. Mobily is the official brand name of Etihad Etisalat, renowned as the second mobile service provider in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

After six months of preparation the company was commercially launched in May 25th 2005; the company had exceeded one million customers after only 90 days.

After Etihad Etisalat won the license in the summer of 2004, the company raised SAR 8.8125 billion (US$ 2.35 billion) in capital, the largest syndicated Islamic loan at the time.

With the end of 2006, GSMA awarded Mobily as the fastest growing mobile operator in the Middle East and North Africa

The awarded 25-Year telecommunication mobile license was complemented by a subsequent purchase of a 3G license. And, in November 2008, Mobily acquired absolute majority stakes in Zajil, the leading Saudi ISP (Internet Service Provider).

Mobily owns 66 percent of the Saudi National Fiber Network (SNFN), which is one of the largest fiber-optic networks in the world and it offers a comprehensive communication infrastructure covering mobile and broadband services solutions, satellite based services and solutions. This network was established as a joint collaboration between Mobily, Bayanat Al Oula for Network Services Ltd (a Mobily subsidiary company) and the Integrated Telecom Company Ltd (ITC). It offers the newest fiber optic network in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with access to all major cities, more than 22,000 km of roads and highways, and covering 99% of the population.
